The Sandman Set To Appear In Court, CW/SD!, & More Published by Ryan Clark on 07/23/2008 at 04:30 PM
The New York Post reports that James "Sandman" Fullington made a brief appearance in Yonkers Criminal Court yesterday however the hearing was postponed until today after prosecutors requested additional time to review Sandman’s rap sheet to determine how much bail to ask for. The Sandman is currently being charged with felony assault and criminal mischief, as well as reckless endangerment and resisting arrest.
Kami Albano, the niece of Lou Albano who had the 75th birthday party, told The Post, "The fight was both their faults, and TJ should have been arrested, too." She also said that the owner "ignored" her requests to calm the speed of alcohol at the party. "Around 4:30, I went to him and asked him to please stop serving drinks to Sandman, as well as a few other guys who'd had a lot," said Albano. "I also went to the bartender and asked that anyone who was drinking hard liquor be cut off," she said. "They ignored our wishes."
Sandman’s lawyer, John Lewis, said his client was "doing fine - about the same as anyone would be in this stressful situation." To view photos of the Sandman's bar fight, click here.
The New York Daily News has an article online about CW’s decision to drop WWE to favour a younger female demographic with more shows aimed at them. Dawn Ostroff, entertainment president of CW said that the network loves the low-rated "Gossip Girl" as it gets a great buzz, much of it from the Internet rather than traditional TV airings, with the right people, who are women 18 to 34. This caused them to drop one of their top rated shows SmackDown because it attracts the wrong people (men). "There was virtually no flow between the audience that watched WWE and anything else on CW," she said. "We decided the most important criterion is branding the network."
