ECW On SCI-FI Results - February 12th, 2008 Published by Ryan Clark on 02/11/2008 at 11:23 PM
Thanks to Bryan Randles for this ECW report:
-Things kick off with a recap from last week. They show the opening segment from last week where Chavo challenged Punk to a “Gulf of Mexico” match. From there they roll a clip package of the contest ending with Chavo being sent off into the water from Punk’s knee on the GTS.
-Roll the show’s opening promo, set off some pyro, cue the Joey Style welcome and the show is off and running.
-Ooh, Chavo spreads across the arena and he makes his way out. They show footage of Chavo being rescued by scuba divers after they went off the air last week. Chavo was choking up water on the shore and saying he was still champion.
-Chavo’s getting some heat from the crowd and says he stands before us lucky to be alive. CM Punk threw him into the Gulf of Mexico even though he knew he couldn’t swim. As a result of being in that filthy, dirty, disgusting cesspool he has a horrible sinus infection. He says his body aches and he has had migraines. He says the arena lights are too bright for him and an irritating rash he can’t get rid of. A jellyfish stung him when he was in the water. He’s a fighting champion, a Mexican warrior, he is a Guerrero. He’s decided not to wait to defend his title at No Way Out. He’s going to defend his title against CM Punk right here tonight. Even though he feels as horrible as…
-Estrada’s music hits and he makes his way down to ringside. He tells Chavo that he’s proud to call him his ECW champion. That each and every person here is proud to call him champion too. He also knows CM Punk disrespected his heritage by attacking him and dumping him in the Gulf. Estrada can’t allow him to defend the ECW title tonight. He won’t deprive the fans of seeing Punk in action tonight though. He calls it a tune-up match for Punk at No Way Out and it’s against Mark Henry. Chavo sneezes and Estrada hands him a tissue.
-Tazz wonders how Punk is going to contend with Henry. Styles talks about his weight advantage. They call it an uphill battle for Punk.
-We’re 47 days away and counting from Wrestlemania. A new song accompanied the promo, which I don’t know.
-They show a clip of the Richards interview from last week.
-Stevie Richards makes his way to the ring and his opponent is already in it. Richards gets an all right pop from the crowd.
STEVIE RICHARDS VS. RORY FOX
-They lock up and Richards gets a side headlock. Fox pushes off and Stevie hits a shoulder block. They lock back up and another shoulder block from Richards. He gets in a hammerlock and Fox gets to the corner to break the hold. He hits a back elbow and drives Stevie’s head into the turnbuckle. Richards comes back and hits a couple stiff kicks to the back. An irish whip and big back body drop from Stevie. A big kick to the head and then a whip into the corner. He hits an avalanche then a double under hook DDT, or Stevie T for the win.
***Stevie comes back and gets a squash victory in 3:00.
-They go to a video package on Mark Henry. Clipped in is him saying it seems like everyone forgot about Mark Henry.
-They hype the Punk vs. Henry match for later tonight.
-Kelly Kelly makes her way to the ring for a Diva’s match.
-Layla is her opponent and she follows out with Lena at her side.
KELLY KELLY VS. LAYLA
-The bell sounds and they lock up. Side headlock takedown by Kelly and then she does it again. Layla turns it into a headscissors on the mat. Kelly tries to wiggle out of it and does to get another side headlock. They get to their feet and Kelly hits a clothesline, then another. Layla comes back with a boot to the gut and then throws her by the hair.
-Layla drags her back to the center of the ring and lands a leg drop on the arm. She gets up and talks some trash then does it again. She rings the arm and Kelly tries to fight back with forearms. Layla cuts it off with a clothesline. She stomps on Kelly’s arm then puts on a keylock. Kelly with forearms, but Layla takes her right back down. Layla goes for a suplex, Kelly blocks it and hits one of her own.
-She goes up top and hits a high cross body that gets a 2 count. She hits a rocker dropper and gets the win.
***Kelly Kelly picks up a win in 4:00. (3/4*).
-More Punk vs. Henry hype for later tonight after the match.
-Kofi Kingston is on his way to the ring when they come back from break.
-His opponent is Mike Knox and he’s already in the ring.
KOFI KINGSTON VS. MIKE KNOX
-Kofi takes his stance and they lock up. Knox backs him into the corner and Kofi slips out. Kofi hits a kick then dodges a big boot and gets a standing waist lock. He turns it into a side headlock and Knox throws him off. He goes for a hip toss and Kofi turns it into a monkey flip. He jumps on Knox in the corner and throws punches at him.
-Kofi goes back at him and Knox with a drop toe hold and Kofi’s face hits the turnbuckle. Knox pounds on him with punches and hits a leg drop. He puts on a reverse chinlock and wears Kingston down. Kofi gets to his feet and hits some elbows to the gut. He throws a big right hand and then a flying forearm. A big dropkick that gets Knox in the face and the two legged leg drop. He hits the buzzsaw kick and gets the win.
***Kofi gets his 4th victory in a row in 4:00. (3/4*).
-They run down the card for No Way Out.
-Out comes John Morrison for one-on-one action with Miz at his side.
-After the break he’s taking on Tommy Dreamer.
JOHN MORRISON VS. TOMMY DREAMER.
-They circle the ring and a side headlock is applied by Morrison. Dreamer comes back with a headlock and Morrison gets in the ropes to break it. He goes for a cross body block but Dreamer catches him and slams him. He throws Morrison outside and runs the apron then hits a clothesline.
-Dreamer goes back to get in the ring, but the Miz trips him up and falls off the apron to the floor. Back in the ring Morrison drives his knee into the gut of Dreamer. He puts on an abdominal stretch and Dreamer tosses him off. Morrison comes back with an inside out leg drop, but Dreamer moves and Morrison gets his crotch in the ropes. Dreamer drops an elbow and Miz tries to distract Tommy. The distraction allows Morrison to hit a kick from the top and goes for the corkscrew neckbreaker. Dreamer reverses it into a DDT and gets the win.
***Dreamer uses the DDT for the win in 4:00. (3/4*).
-After the match Miz gets rid of Dreamer and along with Morrison they beat up Delaney. They hit a neckbreaker powerbomb double team move and leave him lying.
-Backstage Henry is standing breath heaving. A random stage hand tells Mark his match is up next. Henry says it won’t be a match, it’ll be a funeral. The main event is up next.
-CM Punk comes out first. Styles talks about his match with Chavo for the title at No Way Out.
-Mark Henry has his turn to walk to the ring. Styles says Henry has arms like legs and legs like people.
-Chavo’s music hits and Tazz says, wh-what? Styles says he must want a better view. Tazz is impressed Chavo would come out since he’s sick. Styles asks if Tazz believes the jellyfish story.
CM PUNK VS. MARK HENRY
-Punk goes at Henry with kicks to the leg then runs the ropes, but is met with a shoulder block. Henry slams Punk then drops an elbow, but Punk moves. He comes back with kicks to the leg and Henry whips him into the corner. Punk moves then hits the running knee. He goes for a bulldog, but Henry just tosses him off.
-Punk ends up outside and Henry rams him into the ring post. Punk is sent back in the ring and Henry follows. He chokes Punk using the rope and the ref DQ’s him after the 5 seconds.
***Punk wins by DQ in 3:00.
-After the match Chavo is yelling at Punk to keep beating on him. Punk hits an enzuigiri on Henry and he flies outside. He gets Chavo back in the ring and hits a GTS on him to close the show.
